Of shallow form with slightly everted rim on short foot, the white interior painted in cobalt-blue with a chinoiserie design of central peony blossom surrounded by a band of radiating cusped panels and with simple minor diaper band at rim, the exterior with cloudbands and roundels, intact, glaze abraded

The very pure white colour coupled with a pure cobalt-blue which pools to an intense almost black tone. The design is wonderfully restrained, allowing the purity of both design and colour to show through.
