With sloping rim on short foot, the white interior painted in the typical 'Rhodian' colours of red, light cobalt-blue and green with a group of running blue hares surrounded by stylised foliage, in a border of black spiralling motifs alternating with S-motifs, the underside with alternating green and blue stylised floral motifs, intact, glaze chips
11½in. (29.2cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

Two very similar dishes were formerly in the Lagonico Collection, Alexandria (sold Sotheby's London 11 October 1996, lots 25 and 35). All three are so similar they must certainly be from the same pottery workshop.
