The golden yellow field with two hooked large brick-red octagonal panels containing angular stylised hyacinth, tulip and carnation motifs, linked by ivory cruciform panels issuing bold radiating tulip motifs, in a blue border of rosettes linking angular motifs between brick-red S-motif and minor stripes, a sang-de-boeuf cross-panel above and below containing a polychrome arcade, added kilim strip at each end
7ft.2in. x 4ft.8in. (218cm. x 142cm.)

Lot Essay

This is a smaller version of the rug seen in lot 209 of the Alexander Collection, with only two rather than the three octagonal panels seen there, but with wonderfully bright fresh colouring.
