The blackcurrant red field with a central leafy clump issuing bold palmettes on tendrils interlaced with feathery leaves and overlaying cloudband together with perching birds below the cusped shouldered eau-de-nil mihrab arch containing flower-vases issuing delicate tenrils and perching birds, in a sea-green border of flowering vine around inscription cartouches alternating with floral roundels between pale pink angular arabesque and floral meander stripes, a short kilim strip at each end

In two of the larger palmettes are woven two characters which could be Armenian initials or 'hallmark' of the weaver. These do not however appear to be normal Armenian letters or a known signature, and the cynic will say that they are designs of the petals within the flower!
