The rectangular top centred by a clock with white and flower-painted enamel dial, the movement stamped S. MARTI/MEDAILLE DE BRONZE, surmounted by a figure of Cupid and with ribbon-tied floral swags below, above a fluted and foliate-cast frieze, with bevelled glazed door centred by a tapering strip headed by acanthus and a laurel pendant, terminating with a shaped Vernis Martin-decorated panel depicting a gentleman reading poetry to three ladies, flanked to each side by a tapering column with feather mount, with bevelled glazed sides, the interior with red velvet-lined back and with four glass shelves, on tapering fluted feet
