This tapestry, based on designs of Chinese lacquer work, is woven after models generally attributed to the Soho tapestry factory. Several examples of the late 17th and early 18th century survive with the signature of John Vanderbank (d. 1727), who managed the Soho factory from 1689.

A related tapestry was sold anonymously, in these Rooms, 5 November 1992, lot 143, and a further example at Sotheby's London, 7 July 1995, lot 9
