The present cup is from a group of shaped and moulded wares potted and decorated at Gubbio which are inspired by contemporary pieces from Deruta. The pinkish cast to the tin glaze is also typical of production at this centre renowned for its lustred decoration. Cf. Bernard Rackham, Catalogue (V&A, 1940), nos. 509-511.
