A Meissen chinoiserie flared beaker and cover
Circa 1725
Painted in the manner of J.G. Hroldt with Orientals taking tea, another playing a kettle-drum and others with a basket of serpents surrounded by flowering shrubs, plants in vases, birds and insects in flight and by a steaming cauldron between crisply moulded bands of acanthus leaves and pendant husks edged with gilt C-scrolls and with gilt line rims, the footrim and edge of the cover with iron-red scroll ornament, the centre of the domed cover with indianische Blumen (the finial a restored replacement, minor rubbing to gilt scrolls on cover, two small chips to footrim of beaker)
