Previously sold in these Rooms, 1 October 1991, lot 729.

It is rare to find Longquan celadon jars moulded in relief with fruits and floral sprays within panels. No other jars of this rare design appear to be recorded. Compare with another 14th century jar with a shortened trumpet neck decorated with moulded designs of lychee alternating with lotus sprays comparable to the present lot in Sekai Toji Zenshu, vol. 13, no. 150.
