A VICTORIAN SILVER TWO-HANDLED TRAY
Maker's mark of James Garrard, London, 1893
Broadly shaped oval, the ground engraved with large coat-of-arms, supporters and topped by coronet, with molded border, the bold gadrooned rim with leaf at intervals, with two loop handles, the reverse engraved in script Presented to Prince Adolphus of Teck and Lady Margaret Grosvenor on their Marriage December 1894 by Victoria R I --length over handles 30in. (77.5cm.), 182oz.

Lot Essay

The arms are those of the royal family of Teck impaling those of Grosvenor, as borne by His Serene Highness Adolphus Charles Alexander, Duke of Teck, who married on 12 December 1894 Margaret, fourth daughter of Hugh, 1st Duke of Westminster.
