AN ASSEMBLED LOUIS XVI STYLE ORMOLU-MOUNTED "JEWELLED" COBALT-GROUND PORCELAIN THREE-PIECE CLOCK GARNITURE
Third Quarter 19th Century
Comprising a mantle clock and a pair of covered urns, the mantle clock with arched rectangular case painted with Roman numerals above scences of ladies in a landscape flanked by fluted tapering columns surmounted by berried finials, the sides decorated with birds and foliage, the urn-form cresting flanked by foliate scrolling handles and butterfly finial centering a bust of a winged putti, all atop a shaped rectangular plinth decorated with putti and foliage, on toupie feet and giltwood plinth with plaque inscribed 'TO JAMES P. MITCHELL, ESQ./FROM JESSIE M.S. AND ISABELLA D. RICHARDSON DICKSON In acknowledgement of his kindess and services to them as his wards during their minorily. Christmas. 1865.', the dial stamped on reverse 'VINCENTI ET CIE. MEDAILLE D'ARGENT P.LTRE/222', the pair of covered urns each with elongated body and pierced handles cast with Egyptian masks, on a circular spreading socle
