LOU GEHRIG, MAYO CLINIC CORRESPONDENCE ARCHIVE
An archive of correspondence between Lou Gehrig and his doctor, Paul O'Leary at at the Mayo Clinic from 1939 through Gehrig's death in 1941. Archive consists of over one hundred-fifty documents including letters, wires, articles and ephemera regarding Lou Gehrig, the disease which took his life, and the strong friendship he had with the doctor who treated him at the Mayo Clinic. Includes seventeen typed letters on Lou Gehrig stationary signed Lou, and two Lou Gehrig handwritten letters. There are also letters to Dr. Paul O' Leary regarding Gehrig, from journalists, fans and Eleanor Gehrig. All letters discuss Gehrig's medical condition and chronicle his tragic demise.
