meiji period (late 19th century), one signed shomin and with kao and the other sealed minkoku
The large gold pair, one carved as figures from the Sangokushi (The Romance of the Three Kingdoms), Kan'u with his swords and a war fan (gunbai) and Chohi seated with his glass; another a gold rectangular plate, carved in katakiribori with a pine tree and a battle flag beside a stream
Width 16in. (4cm.) and 16in. (3.7cm.), thickness 7mm. and 2mm. respectively (2)
