The circular iron plate carved in low relief and decorated in gold, silver, copper and iron takazogan with sages and their accompanying animals amid mountains, waves and trees, with kaku-mimi

Lot Essay

Soten was born in Kyoto and worked under the protection of the Kawakita family of the Hikone clan in Omi province. He first used the name Shuten, developing the technique known as Hikone-bori which became very popular at the time.
