Oblong with rounded corners, the hardstone body with hinged gold mount with white enamel border between two dotted bands with diagonal leaves at intervals, with cushion-cut diamond pushpiece, marked on mounts

Lot Essay

This cigarette case was purchased in St. Petersburg by Empress Alexandra Feodorovna on 7 August 1898 for 250 rubles, according to recently discovered documents in the Russian State Historical archives.
