Lisbon, circa 1785, maker's mark DMS (Marcas de Contrastes e Ourives Portugueses, 1974, vol. I, p. 38)
The ewer baluster with beaded rims and bright-cut engraved with tied floral swags within guilloche borders, one side with a medallion enclosing initials JCN, the basin shaped oblong with beaded rim and similar bright-cut engraved decoration and medallion with initials, marked on base of ewer and rim of basin
The ewer 12in. (30.5cm.) high, the basin 17in. (43.8cm.) long; 66oz. 10dwt. (2083gr.) (2)
