Diebenkorn's Green is regarded as one of the artist's finest etchings "embodying all of the skills and knowledge of graphics he had been accumulating for more than twenty years" (Nordland, p. 30). Several other etchings resulted from this same piece of copper including Indigo Horizontal, Center Square, and Blue Softground.
