A silver-gilt champlev enamel Jewel-Casket
marked I. Ovchinnikov with Imperial warrant, Moscow, 1876
Oblong, on four ball feet with geometric supports, the front and back with circular medallion of a young peasant woman within gilt pellet border, enclosed by two stylized flowerheads and blue and green scrolling foliage with geometric cornerpieces, within border of geometric flowerheads and leaves on pale blue ground, the sides with shaped panels of a musician within similar border, both with shaped handles with stylized bird supporters, each corner with a shaped partially enamelled column, the pitched cover with stylized tiles with rounded eaves, surmounted by a trellis gable enclosing floral sprays, each end simulating a wooden izba with stylized cockerels and a floral spray, marked on flange of cover and under base
