In the George II style, after a model by Paul de Lamerie, each on square base with incurved corners cast and chased with shells, foliage and trelliswork, the centre chased with swirling foliage with baluster knop above, the stem of square section chased with scalework panels and with shells at the shoulders, with similarly chased socket, the detachable foliage and scroll branches with shell and foliage wax-pans and vase-shaped sockets, with central octagonal baluster finial, fully marked

These candelabra are based on a pair of candelabra by Paul de Lamerie of 1731, made for Sir Robert Walpole, 1st Earl of Orford (1676-1745). These are now in the Gilbert Collection (T. Schroder, The Gilbert Collecion of Gold and Silver, Los Angeles, 1988, pp. 204-6, no. 50)
