Maker's mark of Froment-Meurice, Paris, dated 1864
The border to the lobed and strapwork base engraved and chased: "Tribunal de Nantes Jugement du 28 Xre 1863", "Hommage. de Reconnaissance à J. DUFAURE Offert par .V. Lanjuinais.", the stem formed as three classical female figures emblematic of Justice, Wisdom and Literature, the shallow bowl chased with lobes and engraved with scrolling foliage on matted ground, the rim with anthemion foliage, fully marked, the base and rim signed "FROMENT-MEURICE 1864"
