Two pairs of French silver dessert-stands (Compotiers)
Maker's mark of Narcisse Thorel, Paris, circa 1875
Comprising a pair of cake-stands and a pair of fruit-stands, each on spreading base chased and cast with reed-and-tie border, resting on four acanthus foliage feet, applied with coat-of-arms beneath Duke's coronet, the stem chased and cast with panels of ovolo and treillis work with foliage in between, the detachable bowl with reed-and-tie border and applied beneath with acanthus foliage, marked on reverse and base
