Makers's mark of Charles-Salomon Malher, Paris, 1819-1838
The spoons and forks with stems chased with a figure of Bacchus holding a vine above his head standing on an elaborate plinth and vine foliage, the reverse with similar foliage, cornucopiae swan and wreath, the knives chased with anthemion and thyrsae, all engraved with monogram CP, comprising:
Eighteen dessert-spoons
Eighteen dessert-forks
Eighteen dessert-knives, with silver-gilt blades, maker's mark of Antoine-Vital Cardeilhac
Eighteen cheese-knives, with steel blades
A pair of serving-spoons
fully marked

Lot Essay

Reputed to have been given by Charles X to Admiral Poyer, who was the naval commander at Cherbourg as a present for his help in organising
