Known as 'Policeman' because of the way he patrolled the centre of defence, Herbert Roberts played for Arsenal on 36 occasions in season 1932-33. Born on February 19th, 1905, Roberts joined Arsenal in 1926 and played his entire professional career at Highbury before retiring through injury in season 1937-38. He briefly joined Margate as a trainer before returning to Highbury as a member of the training staff in 1938. He played just the once for England at full International level and won four Championship's with the Gunners and appeared in two F.A.Cup finals, winning just the one in 1936.
