The 1919 England v. Scotland Victory International match was played on 26th April 1919 at Everton and ended in a 2-2 draw.

John Lewis was a founder member of Blackburn Rovers F.C. and played for the club on three occasions between 1875 and 1880. He became the club treasurer from 1881 to 1884 and was also a committee member from 1875 to 1897. His playing career came to an abrupt end through injury and he became a referee. Known as 'the Prince of Referees' he officiated at the 1895, 1897, and 1898 F.A. Cup finals. In 1894 he became a member of the Football League Management Committee for one season, being re-elected in 1900. He was Vice-President of the Football League from 1901 to 1925 and in 1923 he became Vice-President of the Football Association, a position he held until his death in 1926.
