A young boor reclining, eating from an earthenware bowl

The present picture is to be dated to circa 1650/60, when the artist had settled in The Hague. There he specialised in genre scenes, on a small scale, in which the soft chiaroscuro, inspired by Rembrandt, is one of the most characteristic features.
