Lot Essay

This is another bell from Ijebu-Ode, similar to the preceding lot but presumably of a slightly later date. The preceding lot dates from the 19th century or earlier, whereas the present is probably 19th century at the earliest, but nevertheless is a fine example of casting, and necessarily in better condition because it does not appear to have been buried.
