Study for the Disciples in Christ in Cookham, 1952

The present drawing is a study for Christ in Cookham (Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney), 1952, (Bell 378). Bell (op. cit.) writes of the oil, 'The painting belongs to the Pentecost, Last Judgement series intended for the Church House. Christ is shown seated in an armchair surrounded by his disciples like a manager and his football team posed for a photograph'. See also lots 81 and 254.
