Study of Hilda kneeling (recto)

The present work appears to be a study of Hilda for the oil painting Hilda with Bluebells, (Private Collection), 1955, (Bell 402). The setting for the painting is probably Hampstead in the 1920s since the subjects (Hilda and Stanley) appear to be at the age of their courtship. The study of legs appear to be a mirror-image of Stanley's legs in this painting.
