Lot Essay

Wendy Baron considers that this drawing must have been subsequently cut up into sixteen parts to facilitate its transfer to a print medium. It was exhibited in the 1950 exhibition as 'The Handicap, study for an engraving' but is related to an etching, 'Femme de Lettres', published by the Carfax Gallery in 1915.

We are very grateful to Dr. Wendy Baron for her assistance in cataloguing this lot.
