[Avium vivae icones. Antwerp?: c. 1617]. Oblong 4 (295 x 198mm). 18 [of 30?] hand-coloured engraved plates by Collaert. (Two plates trimmed and tipped in, some occasional spotting to margins). Later marble-paper covered boards with printed spine label (extremities lightly rubbed).
A rare part series of Collaert's early bird prints. The curious depictions show the birds set in landscapes, with rural activities providing an unusual background. Cf. Nissen IVB 199; cf. Wood p.293.
