19th Century, incorporating some earlier elements
Inlaid overall with boxwood and ebonised lines and crossbanded in tulipwood, with rectangular stepped and moulded cornice above a plain frieze and a pair of hinged geometrically-glazed doors enclosing a green hessian-lined interior with three shelves, the lower section with a pair of oval-panelled doors each inlaid with a trophy of a bow and arrows entwined with foliage and tied with a ribbon, the spandrels inlaid with scrolling flowers and foliage, enclosing an adjustable shelf, on a stepped rectangular base, one with two material labels inscribed in ink, one 'Macartney 73' the other 'Macartney L... 75' and inscribed in chalk '574'
