The serpentine shaped back with shell and foliage-carved toprail above serpentine stiles and a pierced shaped vertical splat carved with flowerheads and foliage, above a padded drop-in seat covered in green velvet, the shaped apron centred by a flowerhead, on cabriole legs headed by foliage and elongated angles, on claw feet, the front ears replaced, one back foot replaced, restorations

This Irish chair with its characteristic 'webbed' claw feet, open elongated scrolls at the top of the legs, and shell-enriched toprail with 'flattened' carving, relates to one illustrated in The Knight of Glin, Irish Furniture, The Irish Heritage Series: 16, Dublin, 1978, p. 23.
