A SOUTH GERMAN MARQUETRY CABINET ON A GEORGE II WALNUT STAND
The cabinet 17th Century and the stand mid-18th Century
The hinged rectangular top and sides with rectangular panels bordered by foliage motifs, the reverse with rectangular panels, the sides with later carrying-handles, the hinged top enclosing a panelled well with divide, above a pair of doors with a central rectangle inlaid with musical instruments, books and armour in a foliage and strapwork border, enclosing a fitted interior with six simulated nashiji lined drawers around a central cupboard, the front of the drawers and simulated drawers inlaid with architectural scenes, the front of the cupboard with a stag, the reverse of the main doors with rectangular panels and stylised foliage motifs, the stand with a frieze drawer, on tapering club legs, the back of one back foot chipped
