Lot Essay

Meyer and Beken seems likely to have been dealers who stamped this table when it passed through their hands, rather than its makers. Their trade card was noted at the Grosvenor House Fair in 1985 and its wording suggests that they were dealers as well as cabinet-makers (G. Beard and C. Gilbert, (eds.), The Dictionary of English Furniture-Makers, Leeds, 1986, p. 604).
