A CARVED RHINOCEROS HORN LIBATION CUP
16th/17th century
The thick walls deeply carved and pierced, forming a rugged mountain containing leafy trees, and a river with finely incised waves and lotus plants flowing past a pavilion on a ledge, a figure kneeling beside, the interior carved to one side with a gnarled pine tree with leafy branches growing along both sides below the rim, the interior of deep caramel colour with pale amber shading at the rim and exterior, base partly restuck
