The Emperor Yongzheng ordered a similar table with this unusual design of a single pedestal with openwork bracket supports in the eighth year of his reign. See Zhongguo Meishu Quanji, vol.11, Bamboo, Wood, Ivory, p.58 and col.pl.180, from the Palace Museum, Beijing. Like the present example, it has an openwork frieze below the edge of the top. The design of brackets supporting a central pedestal is known from lanterns in the Qing Dynasty.
