A FINE CARVED AND PAINTED WOOD STANDING GUANYIN

Well carved standing on a lotus pedestal, wearing loosely-draped robes decorated with swirling clouds and a quatrefoil phoenix and dragon medallion, tied at the waist and diagonally across the chest, a long flowing scarf covering the shoulders and gracefully falling to the feet on either side, richly adorned with a beaded chest ornament, arm and wrist bangles, the head slightly tilted forward with downcast eyes, wearing a tripartite diadem with a central Sakyamuni figure, the front with a glass-inset usnisa, remnants of gesso below traces of red, green, blue, black pigments and gilding, age cracks, some damages partly restored and/or stabilised
