A similar example is illustrated, Kogi Shinsusei, Ko-Imari, pl. 36, where it discusses the quail pattern. This design was particularly copied by Meissen, Chantilly and English factories including Bow. The "Quail Pattern" or "Partridge Pattern" as it was called in the 18th century, was clearly a desirable design and is often mentioned in John Bowcock's (manager of the Bow factory 1753-1765) Memorandum Book, thus : "Mr. Fogg: 24 octagon nappy plates, partridge pattern" May 15, Lady Stairs, partridge octagon plates" and again "Mr. Fogg, octagon dysart partridge plate 3s 6d.".
