Edo Period (Late 17th Century)
Of rectangular form resting on four shaped feet and with curved lug handles, decorated in iron-red, turquoise, blue, yellow and black enamels, the body with lobed panels alternately containing a peony flowerhead surrounded by foliage and jewels, the sides with scrolling karakusa and stylised foliage at the corners, the pierced canted cover similarly decorated with lobed panels, finial missing and old damage
