Katana Mei: Kanemoto, Muromachi Period (Late 16th century)
The blade honzukuri, iorimune with chugissaki, koshi-zori, forging pattern itame, tempered edge naka-suguha of nioi, hakikake, tang ubu with two holes, 21¼in. (54cm.); in an early Kamakura style silver tachi koshirae emblazoned on either side with three kiku mon, the same tsuka with silver fukurin, mokkogata tsuba with o-seppa, kiku mon menuki and tawara byo formed as mokkogata, slight wear
