A pair of Paris (Dihl et Guerard) oval portrait plaques of the Baron and Baroness de Prulay, painted by Etienne-Charles Le Guay
Circa 1800, the portrait of the Baron signed Le Guay Mnr. de Dihl.., the Baroness signed Le Guay M- de Dihl et GD
The Baron portrayed with his brown curly hair blowing about his face, in a stock, loosely-knotted cravat and orange silk waistcoat, a burgundy velvet cloak draped about his shoulders and a landscape behind him, the Baroness with a flowing gold-striped organza scarf knotted about the crown of her head and falling about her shoulders, wearing a white muslin empire-line gown tied with dark purple ribbons, a stone pillar and trees behind her (broken across and repaired), each plaque within contemporary carved and moulded giltwood frames, the paper backs inscribed in ink, the first Louis-Joseph Poissoniere Baron de Prulay né à Paris en 1762 décédé en 1817 Acquéreur de St. Lubin époux de Henriette-Gabrielle Duriez and the second Henriette-Gabrielle Duriez épouse de Louis-Josepoh Poissonnier Baron de Prulay 1800
