Alexander van Bredael was the third son of Pieter van Bredael, the founder of the notable Antwerp based painting family. He became a master of the Antwerp Guild of Saint Luke in 1685 and Peter Snayers was his pupil in 1694. He is primarily known for his street and market scenes, and pictures of religious festivals.
