Lot Essay

The sitter was the the daughter of Thomas Boothby Serimshire, of Tooley Park, Leicestershire. She married Hugo Meynell, for whom see the previous lot, as his second wife.

'Mrs Meynell', presumably the sitter, is recorded as having sat to the artist in June 1759, a year after her husband.
