Lot Essay

Stevens, a Member of the Old Water-Colour Society, exhibited twelve pictures at the Royal Academy between 1804 and 1822. The present picture was accompanied by the following lines:

"And pensive o'er his scattered flock.
The little shepherd in his white capote,
Doth lean his boyish form along the rock,"
