Lot Essay

Wembley Park had been laid out by Humphrey Repton in 1793, but was chosen as the site of British Empire Exhibition of 1924-5. 27 million people attented the exhibition, and the ensuing overhaul of road and rail services encouraged the development of the present suburb.
