Lot Essay

A man of eclectic taste and talent, Knight was said to have painted between five and six in the morning, leaving the rest of the day for sport, agriculture and poetry. He toured widely in Britain, Ireland and the Continent, drawing and painting in oil and watercolours. He also executed etchings and miniatures.
