A leaf from the FIRST EDITION of the Canterbury Tales, the first substantial book printed in England. The present leaf comes from the Ashburnham copy, a fragment of which was purchased by the Caxton Club of Chicago specifically to accompany this leaf book. ONE OF 148 COPIES ISSUED WITH AN ORIGINAL LEAF. The leaf present here contains lines 1418-1475 of 'A Knight's Tale'.
