(Portrait and title cut-down and mounted, lacking 4B5-6 and 4C1-2, 12 leaves supplied from a smaller copy, A1, Ii5, 3C4, 4B1 torn with loss and repaired, Ii1, Ii3, and Hh6 with repaired tears affecting text, 34 other leaves with marginal repairs.) Early 19th-century red morocco gilt, upper cover with circular centrally-placed gilt ownership stamp (initial MJR within a garter), gilt edges. (neatly rebacked, sections of original spine laid down). Provenance: MJR (binding).

FOURTH FOLIO EDITION, FIRST ISSUE. The printing for this, perhaps the most impressive of all the early folio editions, was undertaken by three separate shops. Only Robert Roberts, the printer of the Comedies, has been identified. Wing S-2915; Greg III-1119; Pforzheimer 910.
