The bulbous body with applied dragons and scrolling foliate and floral handles issuing from dolphins, surmounted by a foliate and reeded neck, on a pierced reeded breakfront base with three scrolling dragons, chips to porcelain, previously with light fitting

Lot Essay

The flowered acanthus mounts, scrolled and serpentined in the Louis XV fashion and inhabited by dragons and dolphins, correspond to the early 19th Century fashion popularised by marchand-merciers and dealers such as Edward Holmes Baldock (d. 1854) of Hanway Street, London.
