Lot Essay

An urn of very similar form is on a polychrome pietra dura panel in the Museo dell'Opificio delle Pietre Dure, Florence (A.M. Giusti, Pietre Dure, London, 1992, plate 115), while the flowerheads on this panel are very reminiscent of those on another panel in the same collection (F. Rossi, La Pittura di Pietra, Florence, 1984).
